As recently engaged and starting my own wedding journey, I can say that it may seem daunting choosing your wedding venue in Malaga the south of Spain, but really it doesn’t need to be.
First, why choose Malaga? I will write a blog in more detail about this, but here is a quick answer. Malaga has so much to offer and so much variety! Don’t forget, Malaga is not just the airport or capital city, it ranges from Estepona all the way to Nerja. It includes all the well known places you know or may have heard of like; Estepona, Marbella, Ronda, Mijas, Alhaurin, Benalmadena, Malaga city, Antequera and Nerja. There are many more places but these are probably the better known ones. All these towns together are also known as the Costa del Sol and it’s such a great place to live, holiday and get married in! You can have your destination wedding in Spain on a beach, in a castle, in a private villa with amazing sea views or secluded in the mountains. You can get married in old monasteries or in haciendas which are the old agricultural houses. So many great places to have your destination wedding whether you want a luxury wedding in Malaga or going for a wedding on a smaller budget.
When choosing your wedding venue in Malaga, you may want to talk to a wedding planner. A wedding planner will be able to talk you through all the different options within your budget and arrange visits for you. Seeing the venue first hand is a great way to decide and fall in love with your venue. It’s a bit like choosing your wedding dress, you may love it online but you won’t know for sure till you see it in person and try it on! If you would like a list of recommended wedding planners in Malaga just send me an email, I’ll be more than happy to help you.
Where can you picture yourself getting married? If you close your eyes and imagine you are walking down the aisle, are you walking on sand, on grass or a path? Do you want to be able to hear the waves crashing or would you prefer to be surrounded by trees? Do you want sea views or mountain views?
You are spoiled for choice when it comes to villa weddings in Malaga. There are luxury modern villas and rustic villas. All of which boast beautiful gardens. If you are after a villa by the beach then villa Cisne in Marbella is a great choice!
A luxury villa right on the beach! With a huge bridal suit to get ready in, beautiful big garden with pool and direct access to the beach for your sunset photos. This type of villa is perfect if you want beach photos and sea views but don’t want the ceremony on the beach. It’s sort of the best of both worlds
If you want to get married directly on the beach then I’d recommend AquiTeQuiero Ver. It’s a great chiringuito or beach front restaurant. You can get married on the beach and have sunset photos later there too and enjoy your meal in restaurant that serves very good food. One thing to take into consideration is that there are no private beaches in Malaga which means there is a very high chance of beach goers standing close to your ceremony area and in the background of many photos.
If you’d rather have a private villa wedding but want beautiful views of the coast, then villa Candela is just perfect. This luxury villa is set in the mountains of Marbella. It is a very large property split over several levels so you can keep each part of your wedding secrete to awe your guests with.
Your ceremony takes place on the lower garden with beautiful sea views
Your cocktails are up on the top balcony and you dinner around the pool.
This venue also has some spectacular areas for your couple photos
Or you could have a villa secluded in the nature reserve of Casares. Villa Bermeja is a secluded and private villa with a very large garden surrounded by forest and wildlife.
If you want something closer to town then Hacienda San Jose is a great rustic venue with a complete Spanish look to it in the foot hills of Mijas pueblo.
You can check out my blog on Hacienda San Jose.
If you want something different then what about getting married in a castle! Hotel Castillo Santa Catalina is in the centre of Malaga with great sea views. This venue is really stunning and being a hotel you can stay there and get ready there so no need to worry about getting to the wedding on time!
This venue has so much potential and so different it will be a wedding no one will forget!
Then there is this wonderful venue with so much history like Finca Monasterio in Cadiz. An old monastery turned hotel. The grounds are enormous and the gardens are beautiful. The ceremony area has a beautiful pagoda by the pool creating such a picturesque scene.
Hopefully looking at some of these venues has given you an idea and helps you narrow down what type of wedding you would like and therefore know what type of venue you are searching for. Whichever venue you decide upon I hope you have the wedding of your dreams!
I have blogs that look closer into different venues so check them out and don’t be afraid to contact me with any question you may have. I’m here to help!
